Meeting the Owners

July 10, 2018

Conor O'Gorman is the third owner to be introduced. Conor started working

on the farm when he was sixteen. During the summer he worked with the Herd Health department on the farm. He returned full time after graduating from Cornell University where he received a Bachelor degree of Animal Science with

a minor in Agribusiness.  After college he took over the Herd Manager position and became a partner in 2015.

Conor is now in charge of dairy cattle management, which includes all genetic selection, health work, pregnancy checks, and nutrient requirements. Since Conor became an owner he has helped develop and strengthen the farm's reproduction and genetic selection. Conor introduced an ultrasound program for the purpose of diagnosing pregnancy and detecting ovarian problems. By ultra-sounding, the farm is able to get a very accurate idea of when the cows will be calving, as well as the health of the early embryo. Conor strives to continue to  improve the genetic selection of the dairy cattle on the farm.  Conor has also taken the time to help train the employees for the genomic and reproduction programs. He has set up times for industry professionals to come in and educate the employees on the protocols and proper procedures.

Conor says, "I feel it is imperative that all employees feel valued and respected, as they are the glue that holds our farm together.” Conor is continually looking for ways to improve the farm and make things more efficient. Conor loves to learn new methods and techniques for treating the cows.

Conor is also very involved in the community. He serves on the board for

Cornell Cooperative Extension and helps to promote agricultural education. Additionally, he volunteers his time in local 4-H programs helping with youth livestock development. In his time away from the farm he enjoys playing ice hockey and skiing in the winter, boating and kayaking in the summer.

Conor's favorite dairy product is cheese. Conor is excited about the

future of the farm and to see continued success and new opportunities for growth and development!
